FORDHAM??S MICAH CLUKEY NAMED PATRIOT LEAGUE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

(November 1, 2004) ?C Fordham University sophomore placekicker Micah Clukey (St. Augustine, FL/St. Augustine) was named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week for games of October 30th. It is the first weekly award of the season for Clukey and the third of his career (he was named Freshman of the Week twice last year). Last Saturday, Fordham upended Georgetown, 36-6, in a Patriot League game on Jack Coffey Field last Saturday to bring its overall record to 5-3, 2-1 in the conference. On special teams, Clukey was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals, hitting from 32, 32 and 41 yards. He was also a perfect 3-for-3 on extra points. On the season, Clukey is 8-for-8 on field goals attempts with a season best boot of 44 yards against Brown on October 9th. He has also converted 26 of his 27 PATs with the only miss being a blocked point after against Duquesne. Clukey, the 2004 Patriot League Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year, now has 19 career field goals, fourth on the Fordham all-time list. Last year, he was named the 2003 Patriot League Freshman of the Year as well as Second Team All-Patriot League. As a freshman, Clukey led the league in field goal percentage (78.6%) while placing third in field goals/game (0.92). He set a school record for most PATs in a season with 47 and most PATs in a game (nine at Rhode Island). The Rams (5-3, 2-1 Patriot League) will next travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to face the Bucknell University Bison in a Patriot League contest on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
