(Ocotber 11, 200) - Fordham University senior Beth Purcell (Lake Elmo, MN/Stillwater Area) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Ocotber 10th. She shares the honor with St. Bonaventure's Heather MacDougall. This is Purcell's second Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor of her career, and the third weekly honor overall.
Purcell, a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection last season, helped Fordham to two conference wins this weekend, as the Rams pushed their conference record to 2-2-1 in the Atlantic 10. Purcell had three goals and an assist this weekend, as she had a goal and an assist in the Rams' 3-2 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday, while having a two goals in Sunday's 3-1 win over Duquesne. She now leads Fordham in scoring with five goals and four assists for 14 points on the year.
IncluDing this season's stats, Purcell has now moved into the top five career leaders for Fordham in goals (5th with 15), assists (3rd with 12), and points (4th with 42).
The Fordham Women's Soccer team is currently 7-2-2 overall on the year, 2-2-1 in the Atlantic 10. Fordham will be in action this week with road Atlantic 10 games against Saint Joseph's on Friday, October 15th at 7:00 PM and against Temple on Sunday, October 17th at 1:00 PM.
