(September 29, 2003) - Fordham University freshman Sarah Hopkins (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 28th. This is the second straight week Hopkins has won Rookie of the Week, and it is the third consecutive week a Fordham player has earned Rookie of the Week honors, as Natasha Kayulu earned the honor two weeks ago.
Hopkins had two goals on the week, which included the game-winning goal against Lafayette College in a 1-0 win on Monday. Her other goal came against Atlantic 10 opponent, La Salle University on Sunday in a 2-0 win. Hopkins is currently the Rams' leading scorer on the year with five goals for 10 points.
The Fordham Women's Soccer team is currently 5-3 on the year and 1-0 in the Atlantic 10. It is the first time since the 2000 season that Fordham won their conference opener. This week the Rams hit the road with Atlantic 10 games at Duquesne on Friday, October 3rd at 7:00 PM and at St. Bonaventure on Sunday, October 5th at 1:00 PM
