FORDHAM'S HOLLY LAUBINGER AND ROBERT SARDIS NAMED TO ATLANTIC 10 PRESEASON ALL-ROOKIE SOCCER TEAMS

(July 7, 2003) - Fordham University freshmen Holly Laubinger (Bridgewater, MA/Bridgewater-Raynham Regional) and Robert Sardis (Howard Beach, NY/Archbishop Molloy) were named to the 2003 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Rookie Soccer teams, as voted upon by the head coaches. Laubinger is a forward, who played high level soccer with her club and ODP team, and will bring experience to go with her great skill, speed and knack for scoring goals. A four-year varsity starter at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, she is the career goals scored (74) and assists (39) leader at Bridgewater. She finished as the Old Colony League??s leading scorer in each of the last three seasons. Laubinger was named the 2002 Player of the Year by The Boston Globe and Brockton Enterprise, while also garnering the Eastern Massachusetts Division I Player of the Year. An All-State selection in 2001 and 2002, she played ODP for Massachusetts State Team from 1998-2001, and played club soccer for Southcoast United F.C. which won the Massachusetts State Cup in 2002 and was a regional bronze medallist in 1998 and 2000. Sardis is a quick, versatile midfielder with the drive to compete at the Division I college level. He played three years of varsity soccer at Archbishop Molloy, earning the 2003 Most Valuable Player Award of the CHSAA Brooklyn/Queens League. He was named to the CHSAA All-City Team in 2001 and 2002 and was a three-year All-Queens selection. Sardis helped Archbishop Molloy to the 2001 CHSAA State Championship, and is a member of the Eastern New York ODP team, Merrick Red Storm, which won the Tampa Sunbowl Championship, the NY State Cup Championship, and was a regional finalist in 2002-03. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City??s Jesuit University. With 22 men??s and women??s varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women??s rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
