Fordham University head swimming and diving coach
Steve Potsklan announced the signing of Kathleen Morrissey (White Plains, NY/The Peddie School) to a National Letter of Intent.
Morrissey, a former member of the Badger Swim Club in Larchmont, New York, won the 1000 freestyle at the 2000 U.S. Junior National Championships in Buffalo, shattering the Olympic Trial cut to become one of a few 14-year olds to earn a berth at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials. She also placed second in the 500 freestyle at Junior Nationals. She then went on to compete at the Nationals where she finished 46th of 60 in the 800 freestyle.
That same year, Morrissey had impressive showings at the Grand Prix Series, in the 400-meter freestyle, and in the 200-meter butterfly at the Ultraswim in Charlotte, North Carolina.
