(May 31, 2003) - Senior Deric Zaphire just missed qualifying for the NCAA East Regional final in the 400 intermediate hurdles as he placed ninth at the NCAA Regional held at George Mason University. Zaphire finished ninth in a time of 52.12 seconds, which missed the top eight by .38 seconds, which was 51.74 by East Carolina's Ron Pollard. Junior Mark Porcaro also participated at the NCAA Regionals. The Atlantic 10 champion in the outdoor 400m finished 29th in the 400m in a time of 47.98 seconds.
