Steve Potsklan announced the signing of Sam Cutter-Wilson (St. Paul, MN/St. Thomas Academy) and Benjamin Marzolf (St. Paul, MN/St. Thomas Academy) to National Letters of Intent.
Cutter-Wilson is a three-time All-State honoree and is a member of the state record-setting 200 Medley Relay squad, winning the state championship in the event in both 2002 and 2003. He was also a member of the 200 Free Relay that won the 2003 state title.
A high school All-American this past winter, Cutter-Wilson was also up for All-America consideration as a junior in 2002. He earned All-State honors as a sophomore, junior and senior and is also a team record holder. Cutter-Wilson was a member of the varsity swim team from seventh grade through 12th grade.
Individually, Cutter-Wilson finished second at the Minnesota State Championship in the 200 IM and third in the 100 Breaststroke in 2003.
Academically, Cutter-Wilson is an Eagle Award winner as a senior, being named to the highest honor roll as well as being named to the Honor Roll as a sophomore and junior. He was also a member of the Spanish Club.
Marzolf was an All-Conference, All-State and All-American swimmer at St. Thomas Academy, competing in the 100 Backstroke and 200 IM. He served as the captain of the swimming and diving team this past winter.
Academically, Marzolf has earned the Eagle Award the past three years as well as being honored with the Academic Wreath, presented to the top 10% in Leadership as a sophomore and junior. He is also a member of the Junior Officer Leadership Program at St. Thomas, helping to organize and run all aspects of the JROTC.
