FORDHAM'S JEREMY BOURGEOIS NAMED TO ATLANTIC 10 SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

(May 14, 2003) - Fordham University sophomore Jeremy Bourgeois (Danvers, MA/Danvers) was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 today, voted upon by the Atlantic 10 Head Coaches. This is Bourgeois?? first Atlantic 10 Honor. Bourgeois was the driving force behind the Rams, leading the team offensively with a team-best nine home runs, 34 runs batted in, and 76 total bases. He also finished second on the team in slugging percentage (.589) and on-base percentage (.428), while being third in batting average (.333) and runs scored (27). He also added six doubles, while stealing eight of nine bases. In the conference, Bourgeois finished the regular season ranked among the league leaders in home runs (T-8th) and slugging percentage (T-6th), while leading the league in runners picked off with four. Bourgeois is the first Fordham catcher to receive All-Conference honors since Vince Lumia received Second Team honors, back in 1997. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City??s Jesuit University. With 22 men??s and women??s varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women??s rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
