FORDHAM'S ANDREW HOLZHEIMER NAMED ATLANTIC 10 ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE FOR OUTDOOR TRACK

Fordham University senior Andrew Holzheimer (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) was recognized for his athletic and academic accomplishments by being named to the 2002-03 Atlantic 10 Men??s Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference team. To be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.00 and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team. Voting is conducted by the Atlantic 10 Conference??s sports information directors. The number of players selected to a team reflects the standard-sized team in that sport. Holzheimer, who received his second straight Atlantic 10 Men??s Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference award, recorded Fordham??s fastest 110m HH time this spring (15.10), the fourth fastest time in the Atlantic 10. He also registered Fordham??s third best long jump in 2003 (19?? 0.75??) and Fordham??s best pole vault this year (14??0??), seventh best in the A-10. Holzheimer, who has missed the latter part of the outdoor season due to injury, took second in the 110m HH and pole vault at the Metropolitan Championships. Indoors in 2002-03, Holzheimer, who has also been named to the Atlantic 10 Men??s Indoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference teams for the past two years, scored in three events at the Atlantic 10 Championships, taking fifth in both the 55 meter hurdles (8.10 seconds) and the pole vault (13?? 9.25??) and sixth in the shot put (33?? 4.5??). During the regular season, he won the pole vault at both the Ram Invitational and the Fordham Christmas Invitational and took fifth in the pole vault at the Manhattan Invitational. Holzheimer recorded Fordham??s best shot put, pole vault and pentathlon showings this winter. In 2001-02, Holzheimer, finished third in the 55-meter hurdles at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships (7.84) while also registering the second fastest 55-meter hurdle time in the Atlantic 10. The Business Administration major finished fifth in the pentathlon and seventh in the 60 meter hurdles at the Metropolitan Championships and finished third in the 60 meter hurdles at the Fordham Invitational. Holzheimer has been named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner??s Honor Roll each of the past four years.
