Fordham University junior Mark Carducci (Rocky Hill, CT/Rocky Hill) and freshman Jesse Clark (Dickinson, ND/Dickinson) were named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week for men??s tennis and Rookie of the Week for men??s golf, respectively, for the week ending April 6th it was announced today.
Carducci went 3-0 at second singles in three Fordham wins on the week and he teamed with Chris Kelly to go 3-0 at first doubles. In the first match of the week, Carducci defeated Manhattan??s Pawel Wawryznik (6-4, 6-3) in Fordham??s 7-0 win. He then bested Rich Salem of New York University (6-2, 6-2) in the Rams?? 6-1 win and then closed out the week with a victory over Rhode Island??s Bill Moran (6-1, 6-1) in a 4-3 Atlantic 10 win.
Carducci is now 10-4 in singles play and 11-4 in doubles action this year as Fordham moves to 5-1 in the spring season.
Clark started the week by tying for fourth place at the St. Peter??s Tri-Match on April 1st, shooting a 76 to lead Fordham to the team title over St. Peter??s and Fairleigh Dickinson. He then shot a two-day total of 163 (84-79) to lead all Fordham golfers at the Yale Spring Open on April 5th and 6th. The 163 tied Clark for 39th place overall as Fordham finished 12th of 22 teams.
