FORDHAM??S CARL GARRITANO NAMED PATRIOT LEAGUE FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

(November 17, 2003) ?C Fordham University freshman defensive back Carl Garritano (Rochester, NY/Webster) was named Patriot League Freshman of the Week for games of November 15th it was announced today. Fordham, the 2002 Patriot League Co-Champions, fell to seventh ranked Colgate University 14-3 in Hamilton, NY on Saturday. The Rams, ranked 25th in the latest Sports Network/CSTV poll, are 8-3 overall, 3-3 in the Patriot League. Garritano recorded six solo tackles in the Colgate game, including three for a loss of eight yards. He helped the Fordham defense hold the Raiders, who entered the game with the second best scoring offense in the Patriot League (33.8 points per game), to a season-low 14 points. On the year, Garritano has 20 total tackles, 17 solo, including three for a loss, as well as a pass interception, which he returned for a touchdown in the Georgetown game. The Rams will close out their 2003 season on Saturday when they travel to Towson, Maryland to face the Towson University Tigers at 12:30 p.m.
