(September 26, 2002) ?C Former Fordham University guard William ??Smush?? Parker (New York, NY/Newtown) signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Last year, Parker appeared in every game at guard, starting 26. He averaged a team-high 16.9 ppg (seventh best in the Atlantic 10) along with 4.4 rpg and led the team in scoring in 14 of the 28 games. Parker scored in double figures in 24 of the 28 games and led the team with 125 assists, sixth best in the Atlantic 10, and with 64 steals, third in the conference (2.30/game). Parker shot 43.3% from the field, sixth best in the conference. Parker, who received the Rising Star Award by School News last spring, was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and Second Team All-District 2 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
