(September 23, 2002) - Fordham University senior Chris Kelly (Gloucester, MA/Manchester HS) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men??s Tennis Performer of the Week for the week of September 16-23. It is the second time Kelly has earned the honor in his career. Kelly, an All-Conference pick a year ago, went 3-0 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles play this past weekend at the Haverford Round Robin Tournament, helping Fordham to a second place finish. At second singles, Kelly earned straight set wins against Muhlenberg (6-4, 6-1), Queens College (6-4, 6-1), and Villanova (6-1, 6-2) . He also recorded three #1 doubles wins with partner Andrew Salak against each school including an 8-6 win over Villanova. Kelly is now 3-1 in #2 singles, and 6-3 in #1 doubles on the year. The Fordham Men??s Tennis team will next be in action on Wednesday, September 25th as they host NYU at 3:30 PM. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University. With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
