Fordham 2002-03 Men's Basketball Schedule Released

(Sept. 18, 2002) - A sixteen-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule and fifteen home games, including a game against St. John’s at Madison Square Garden, highlight the 2002-03 Fordham University men’s basketball schedule, which was announced today. This season will mark the 100th varsity season for the Rams and will also feature the re-opening of historic Rose Hill Gym, the oldest facility being used by an NCAA Division I school in the country. The facility, which opened on January 16, 1925, is undergoing a $2 million renovation process, which includes new stands, new scoreboards, a new sound system and new lighting. Fordham’s Atlantic 10 schedule includes home-and-home games with east division foes Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph’s, St. Bonaventure and Temple. From the west division Duquesne, Richmond, and Xavier will visit the Rose Hill Gym, while the Rams will travel to Dayton, George Washington and La Salle. In non-conference play the Rams will face two Big East schools in St. John’s and Rutgers as well as one from the Big Ten (Northwestern) while the Rams will host perennial rivals Holy Cross, Iona and Manhattan. The non-conference schedule will give Fordham fans plenty of opportunity to see their Rams as six of the eleven games will be played in the Rose Hill Gym. Fordham will be led into the season by junior co-captains Michael Haynes and Mark Jarrell-Wright. Season ticket information is available by calling the Fordham Ticket Office at 718-817-4300. Individual tickets will soon be on sale and may be purchased at the Fordham Ticket Office or online at www.fordham.edu.
