Fordham University sophomore guard William ??Smush?? Parker (New York, NY/Newtown) was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 by a vote of the conference coaches it was announced today.
On the year Parker has appeared in every game at guard in 2001-02, starting 25. He is averaging a team-high 16.5 ppg (seventh best in the Atlantic 10) along with 4.4 rpg and has led the team in scoring in 13 of the 27 games.
Parker has scored in double figures in 23 of the 27 games, having a nine-game streak stopped at Massachusetts on Feb. 23 rd . He also leads team with 124 assists, sixth best in the Atlantic 10, and with 62 steals, third in the conference (2.30/game). Parker is shooting 43.8% from the field, sixth best in the conference.
Parker was also recently named Second Team All-District 2 by the National Association of Basketball
Coaches.
The Rams finished the regular season with an 8-19 record and will face La Salle University in the first round of the 2002 Verizon Atlantic 10 Tournament on Wednesday at the First Union Spectrum in Philadelphia.
