FORDHAM'S JADA JEFFERSON NAMED TO THE 2002-03 ATLANTIC 10 PRESEASON ALL ROOKIE TEAM

(November 5, 2002) - Fordham University freshman forward Jada Jefferson (Newark, NJ/Malcolm X Shabazz) was named to the 2002-03 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Preseason All-Rookie Team by the conference today, as voted on by the coaches. Jefferson, a 6-2 forward, was selected as Player of the Year in Newark in 2002. A graduate of Malcom X Shabazz High School, she averaged 12.3 ppg and 10.1 rpg in the 2001-02 season. She was selected to the Adidas Top 100 Camp and as a Honorable Mention All-American by Street and Smith??s her senior year. She was also nominated for the McDonald??s All-America Team. A First Team All-State selection her senior year, Jefferson was a Second Team All-State her junior year, helping Malcolm X Shabazz High School to a 22-3 record and claim the Watchchung Conference Championship. The team also captured the Newark Christmas Tourney Championship and the North Public School Championship, while also becoming a New Jersey Sectional Semi-Finalist. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City??s Jesuit University. With 22 men??s and women??s varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women??s rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
