EAKIN, KHUNS NAMED PATRIOT LEAGUE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Fordham University junior quarterback Kevin Eakin was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week while junior defensive lineman Colby Khuns was named Defensive Player of eth Week for games of November 16th it was announced today. It is the second weekly award won by Eakin this season and the second straight week a Fordham player was named Offensive Player of the Week. Eakin completed 17 of 29 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns in Fordham??s 42-14 Patriot League win over Towson University on Saturday. The 313 passing yards was the 15th best single-game total in Fordham history. The win keeps Fordham (8-2) tied for first in the Patriot League with a 5-1 record. With a win over Bucknell in the season finale on Saturday, Fordham would win its first ever Patriot League championship and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. The eight wins are the most for a Fordham team on the NCAA Division I-AA level (the Rams moved to I-AA in 1989) and the most overall since the 1988 team went 9-2. The five Patriot League wins ties Fordham??s league-high, accomplished last year when the Rams finished 5-2 in the league. The 313 passing yards for Eakin is his fourth 300+-passing yard game of the season, breaking the Fordham record of three set by Joe Moorhead in 1995 and matched by Matt Georgia in 1999. The 313 yards also gives Eakin 2,452 yards on the year, the third best total in Fordham history. Eakin is 249 yards short of breaking Fordham??s single-season record of 2,700 set last year by Mark Carney. On the year, Eakin has completed 180 of 282 passes for 2,452 yards and 19 touchdowns. He leads the Patriot League with an average of 245.2 passing yards/game and in passing efficiency with a 154.1 rating, fifth best in the NCAA I-AA. Eakin is also 17th in the NCAA I-AA in points responsible for (13.80/game) and 19th in completions per game with an average of 18.00. The 19 touchdown passes for Eakin this year is second best in school history while the 2,452 passing yards and the 180 completions are the third best single season totals in Fordham history. Khuns recorded seven total tackles, three solo, including a sack for a loss of six yards and he also deflected two passes in Fordham??s 42-14 Patriot League win over Towson University on Saturday. Khuns led a Fordham defense that held the Tigers to 295 yards of total offense while sacking Towson quarterbacks four times and intercepting them once. On the year, Khuns has compiled 37 total tackles, 23 solo, including 8.5 for a loss of 46 yards and four quarterback sacks. He has also broken-up six passes, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.
