FORDHAM FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF NAMED RECIPIENTS OF THE 2002 METRO CHAPTER EAFIO GOOD GUY AWARD

The Fordham University football coaching staff was the recipient of the 2002 Metro Chapter Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials (EAFIO) Good Guy Award it was announced today. The award is voted on by the members of the Metro Chapter of the EAFIO who annually selects a University/College football program that exemplifies good sportsmanship and its appreciation and hospitality to college officials. The staff will be honored at the EAFIO dinner banquet on December 2nd. The staff, led by head coach Dave Clawson, has engineered a turnaround for the Fordham football program. In their fourth year, the staff has revitalized the football program, steadily increasing the win total each year. The Rams are 7-2 overall this year, 4-1 in the Patriot League, which places the Rams in a first place tie with Colgate with two games remaining. Last year, the Rams finished with a 7-4 overall record, 5-2 in the Patriot League, Fordham??s best record and first winning season since moving to the NCAA Division I-AA in 1989. Clawson was recognized for this resurgence by being named Patriot League Co-Coach of the Year and Fordham University??s Coach of the Year. The Fordham staff consists of Joe Tricario (Assistant Head Coach/Co-Defensive Coordinator), Ed Foley (Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line), John Berry (Co-Defensive Coordinator), Dominick DeMatteo (Special Teams Coordinator/Running Backs), Michael Elko (Linebackers), Jeff Skelton (Wide Receivers), Sean Padden (Defensive Line), Vinny Cerone (Assistant Defensive Line), Shawn West (Tight Ends), and Chris Menick (Assistant Offensive Line) along with student assistants Chris Breen and Mark Carney.
