Fordham University junior rower Deirdre O??Callaghan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) earned 2001 USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll First Team accolades the organization announced recently. O??Callaghan is one of just eight female rowers in the nation to earn First Team honors. O??Callaghan was a member of the 2001 varsity heavyweight four for Fordham last spring, rowing at the stroke position. She helped the heavyweight four a fourth-place finish at the Dad Vail Championships and a second place showing at the New York State Championships. O??Callaghan also guided the varsity four to first place at the Atlantic 10 Championships, Fordham??s fifth-straight varsity four title at the A-10s.
O??Callaghan, a Business Administration major, has been named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner??s Honor Roll the past two years and was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team for rowing last spring.
The USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in both academics and rowing, as well as participated in extra curricular activities. Applicants must be USRowing members, have rowed or coxed in a men??s or women??s priority open or lightweight boat that raced at a league championship, have completed four semesters or six quarters of academic work, and have earned a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
