Scott Parsons, who played two years for Fordham head coach Tom Masella at Central Connecticut State University, begins his first year as a member of the Fordham staff, where he will be responsible for the outside linebackers in 2007.
Parsons comes to Rose Hill after serving as an assistant coach at Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts where he was in charge of the offensive line as well as directing the Hawks' recruiting for the state of Florida.
Prior to his stint at Becker College, Parsons was the middle linebacker coach at Southington (Conn.) High School, helping the Blue Knights to an 11-1 record and the Class LL State Championship game in 2006. Both starting middle linebackers on the squad received All-Conference honors.
Parsons got his start in coaching the spring of 2006 serving as an intern defensive end coach at Central Connecticut and a volunteer defensive line coach at Southington High School.
A 2006 graduate of Central Connecticut State University where he received a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Psychology, Parsons was a four-year starter on the Blue Devils' defensive line, serving as a team captain in 2005. He helped lead the 2004 and 2005 teams, under the guidance of Masella, to Northeast Conference (NEC) titles, earning All-NEC honors as a senior in 2005. Parsons totaled 176 tackles over his four-year career, including 31 for a loss and 14 sacks while also recording nine forced fumbles.
The Kennebunk, Maine native is a 2001 graduate of Kennebunk High School where he lettered in football, wrestling and lacrosse. He served as a captain for both the football and lacrosse programs and participated in the 2001 Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl, a senior football all-star game that raises funds for the Shrine Hospitals for Children. In wrestling, Parsons finished as a state runner-up and competed in the senior national tournament, being named Maine MVP.
Parsons is single and currently resides in the Bronx.
