Espina-Esquivel was selected as the Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week, after setting school records in both the one-meter and three-meter dives. In her debut against Marist, she won the one-meter competition with a school record score of 280.20, bettering the old mark of 277.80, set by Elizabeth Dorger in 2011. Then, she broke the three-meter diving school record with a first place score of 307.20, besting Andrea Krok's 2012 record of 304.50. She followed that performance by winning both diving competitions at the Fairfield/Monmouth tri-meet.
