Bette-Ann Speliotis Liguori, a member of the Fordham University Athletic Hall of Fame, begins her 12th season at the helm of the Fordham women's tennis team.

Speliotis Liguori led the 2017-18 Rams to a 9-10 overall record, 3-3 in conference play. Maia Balce led the Rams with an impressive 22 singles wins, while Estelle Wong finished her career in the marron and white leading the Rams with 19 doubles wins. Fordham also received postseason awards from the A-10 as Balce was named Second Team All-Conference and Carolina Sa was named Academic All-Conference.

In 2016-17, Speliotis Liguori led the Rams to one of their finest seasons since joining the A-10, compiling over 20 wins, finishing as the number three seed, the team's highest seed, at the Atlantic 10 Championship and reaching the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals for the second straight year. Individually, the Rams had two players earn Atlantic 10 postseason accolades, with sophomore Carina Ma garnering first team honors and freshman Maia Balce earning second team honors.

Speliotis Liguori previously led the Rams to Atlantic 10 quarterfinal finishes at both the 2013 and 2014 Championships.  Individually in 2014, the Rams had two players, Sarah Ali and Elliesa Ball earn Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors and finished ranked 10th in the Northeast Region as a doubles pair.

In 2015, the Rams advanced to the Atlantic 10 semifinals for the first time in team history.

Speliotis Liguori has experience coaching both on the high school and club level. From 2001-05 she served as the varsity coach at Ursuline School in New Rochelle, helping the school break Scarsdale High School's 100-match winning streak with her daughter and future Fordham star, Dominique, leading the way.

On the club level, Speliotis Liguori was the tennis instructor at the Mount Vernon Tennis Center from 1998-2004, teaching junior groups, running match play and guiding afterschool programs. From 1995-1998, she served as an instructor at the Westchester Indoor Tennis Club, leading junior and adult programs, while from 1992 until 1998, she was a platform tennis instructor for the Scarsdale Recreation Department, teaching junior and adult tennis as well as platform tennis.

As a student-athlete at Fordham, Speliotis Liguori moved into the number one singles position in the fall of her freshman year and defeated the number one and number two seeds at the State Championship Tournament that season. She led the team to a 21-1 record as a freshman, including a perfect 12-0 slate in the spring.

Speliotis Liguori also played at number one singles as a sophomore, guiding the team to a 25-1 overall record, and maintained the first singles spot as a junior when she was named team MVP. In her junior year, Speliotis Liguori helped the team to a third place finish (out of 48 schools) at the New York State A.I.A.W. Tournament.

As a senior, Speliotis Liguori led the team to the 1982 New York State A.I.A.W. Women's College Tennis Championship title and a perfect 26-0 record. She also won the doubles championship at the A.I.A.W. Tournament and helped Fordham to the 1983 MAAC Championship.

Speliotis Liguori received the 1982 Claire Hobbs Memorial Award as a female athlete of the year and was inducted into the Fordham University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.

A 1983 graduate of Fordham with a degree in Marketing, Speliotis Liguori was employed by IBM as a Systems Analyst from 1983 until 1988 and she continued to play competitive tennis, winning 13 New York Athletic Club (NYAC) singles titles, rising to as high as a 5.0 rating with the USTA.

Speliotis Liguori was a fixture at Fordham matches from 2005-09, as her daughter, Dominique Liguori, became one of the most prolific women's tennis players in Fordham history. Dominique closed out her career with a 57-4 career record, including a perfect 19-0 slate and an Eastern title in 2008-09, as she won the Hobbs Family Award as the school's most outstanding female athlete, joining her mother in winning the prestigious award.
