Laura Forbes enters her sixth season with the women's basketball program and her third season as the director of basketball operations. She was previously an assistant coach for three seasons from 2011-2014, concluding with the Ram's historic Atlantic 10 Championship. Forbes was previously part of Coach Gaitley's staff as the director of basketball operations at Monmouth in 2010-11.
As the director of basketball operations, Forbes is in charge of coordinating travel, equipment, scheduling practice,overseeing the team's budget, and is the organizer of Stephanie Gaitley Basketball Camps. She also serves as the team's liaison between the coaching staff and the academics, compliance, facilities and housing departments.
Forbes' responsibilities as an assistant coach included overseeing the players in academic areas, such as study halls, meeting with academic advising, and serving as the liaison between players and faculty. Forbes was also in charge of equipment for the team, as well as assisting in recruiting, practices, scouting and post player development.
Forbes graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and a minor in Biology from Monmouth University in 2010, where she served as a team captain in her final season playing for Coach Gaitley. She was named to the Northeast Conference Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll and the Dean’s List, and received the Joan Martin award for commitment to their team through adversity. In May 2016 she received a Master of Arts in Ethics and Society from Fordham University. A proud Shore Conference alum, on September 24th, 2016, Forbes will be inducted in to the Monmouth Regional High School Hall of Fame.
