Katelyn Linney enters her second season as an assistant coach and her fourth season overall with the women's basketball program. She was previously the administrative assistant in 2014-15 and the assistant director of basketball operations during the team’s Atlantic 10 Championship run in 2013-14.
Before arriving at Rose Hill, Linney enjoyed a standout four-year career as a member of the women’s basketball team at Fairfield University.
During her time at Fairfield, Linney, a team captain, established herself as one of the premier scorers in school history, setting records for three-pointers made, three-pointers attempted, and three-pointers made per game, while also displaying her durability by setting program records for games played and games started. Linney finished her career with 1,262 points, good for 16th all-time in Fairfield history. She also ranks 17th in career assists with 235.
A two-time member of the MAAC All-Academic Team as a junior and senior, Linney also earned a spot on the All-MAAC Second Team following her sophomore campaign, and her junior year was named to the MAAC All-Tournament team. During that sophomore season, she averaged nearly 13 points per contest and tied the single-game school record after going 7-8 from three-point range against George Mason.
As a freshman, Linney was named to the All-MAAC Rookie Team and earned conference Rookie of the Week honors an astounding six times.
A product of St. John Vianney High School, Linney earned four varsity letters in a career that saw her accumulate 1,355 points and garner First Team All-State accolades as a senior. Â
Linney graduated from Fairfield with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Math and Marketing. She is currently working towards a Master’s in Educational Leadership, Administration, and Supervision.
