John Azzinaro

John Azzinaro enters his second season with the Rams after joining the staff as an assistant coach in May 2024.
Coach Azzinaro brings a plethora of experience to the Rams after having worked for three seasons as an assistant coach at the Division I level at Rider and Binghamton, following his work at the WNBA and NBA levels.

In his first season as a Ram, Azzinaro coached up the point guards which saw Taya Davis set career highs in assists and points. He oversees the guards’ workouts, scouting and player schemes.

At Rider, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach winning a game at the MAAC Tournament in each of those years. In his time in South Jersey, Azzinaro would assist in international and Juco-recruiting, team scout preparation, and helped in the development of the guards and wings.

Azzinaro previously served as a video coordinator for Binghamton the year prior, providing scouting preparation and data analytics, providing statistics and video breakdowns to best serve the players and coaching in practice. Azzinaro’s work at the collegiate level follows a two year stint with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, where he was a part of back-to-back playoff runs including the team’s 2021 Championship run.

Serving in a variety of roles during his time in the Windy City, the Sky would go from a losing record in 2019 to WNBA Champions in just two seasons, with Azzinaro providing key scouting help for the team. Assisting with data analytics, scout preparation, and live coding in games, he would also assist on the player development side, working with the guards and wings in daily workouts to hone and expand their skills within the Sky’s playbook.

Having also spent time as a Head Coach in the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders program, Azzinaro worked with the Top-100 high school prospects around the world, creating offensive and defensive sets, providing mentorship within the program. Starting his postgraduate career in 2017, Azzinaro would work in the NBA G-League as a Coaching Associate with the Iowa Wolves, where he provided live coding and worked in player development.
Azzinaro was a standout point guard at Bucknell where he saw action in the NCAA tournament.
