Katie McEachern enters her third season as an assistant coach after being hired in August 2018 by head coach Melissa Inouye. In the staff's first season on Rose Hill, the Rams secured their seventh consecutive Atlantic 10 championship, sixth regular season title, and ninth trip to a NCAA Regional. The 2020 campaign was unfortunately cut short after one month of action due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though three Rams secured a total of five Atlantic 10 weekly honors.
At Fordham, Coach McEachern works specifically with infielders and hitters and serves as the team travel coordinator. She also oversees alumni communication outreach, is the campus liason, creates social media content, and assists with fundraising and camps and clinics.
McEachern spent the prior two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Saint Francis University while attaining her Master's degree. During her two years in Loretto, Pa., the Red Flash won back-to-back Northeast Conference championships, going undefeated in league action both seasons, while the coaching staff earned NEC honors in 2017 and NFCA Great Lakes Regional distinction this past spring. Saint Francis traveled to Arizona for the past two NCAA Regionals. Prior to her time as a coach, McEachern was a four-year starting shortstop at Dartmouth were she was an Ivy League Rookie of the Year and two-time Player of the Year, a two-time NFCA All-Region selection, and the first player in the school's history to make four consecutive All-Conference First Teams. McEachern went on to play and coach professionally with Skövde in Sweden during the summer after her graduation and then, a year later, received a call-up to the Canadian national team.
Coach Inouye on McEachern's hiring - "Coach McEachern had a very successful playing career at Dartmouth College and was fortunate to experience playing professional softball in Europe and with the Canadian National Team. She definitely knows what it takes to be successful on and off the field as she was a part of 4 NCAA Regionals (2 at Dartmouth and 2 at Saint Francis). I look forward to having Coach McEachern work with our student-athletes and share her vast knowledge of the game and postseason experiences."
