Emily Friedman, a 2006 graduate of the University of California-Berkeley, begins her third year on the Fordham softball coaching staff, following one season as an assistant coach at Vermont.
Prior to Vermont, Friedman played her college ball at Cal where she earned Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors in 2006 as a second baseman. She helped Cal win the Pac-10 Championship in 2005 and advance to the College World Series. Friedman was named to the Pac-10 and All-Region Academic First Teams and was also a third-team Academic All-American selection as a senior.
Following her collegiate career, Friedman was drafted to play for the Philadelphia Force in the National Professional Fastpitch Softball League, where she played for four seasons. She is currently a member of the Chicago Bandits.
Since she has graduated, Friedman has also traveled to Honduras to provide equipment and organize a youth baseball program in conjunction with Peace Corps Volunteers and represented the NPF as an instructor for clinics sponsored by Major League Baseball.
