Mike Quinn, a former assistant coach at Stonehill College, was named Fordham University director of men's basketball operations in August of 2014.
“We are excited to add Mike to the Fordham basketball family,” said Pecora. “He brings a wealth of experience and has a strong work ethic that will help the program as we move forward.”
Quinn joins the Fordham program after spending the past three years as an assistant coach at Stonehill, helping the Skyhawks to a pair of NCAA Division II National Championship appearances, including a regional title in 2012 when the team advanced to the national semifinals.
Prior to his coaching career, Quinn was a four-year starter with a nationally-ranked Bentley University squad that captured three Northeast-10 regular season titles and made four NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the Final Four on two occasions. He was part of Bentley's 2007-08 squad that posted a program-record 34-1 overall mark, including a perfect 22-0 clip in NE-10 play, en route to the NCAA Division II semifinal round.
In helping lead Bentley to a four year record of 110-23, Quinn finished his career ranked first in program history with 133 games started and 4,299 minutes played. He led the Falcons in minutes each of his last three seasons and also ranks second in program history for career games played (133), third in steals (190) and eighth in steals per game (1.4). Quinn became the 48th Falcon in program history to score 1,000 career points, finishing with 1,062 – good for 38th all-time.
Quinn gained valuable coaching and administrative skills while serving as assistant camp director at the Bentley Basketball Camp the summers of 2005 through 2010.
A native of Oakdale, Conn., Quinn earned his Master of Science degree in financial planning from Bentley's McCallum Graduate School of Business in May. He is also a 2010 cum laude graduate of Bentley with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. Quinn was a member of the University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and earned NE-10 Academic All-Conference honors four times.
