Biography
Named preseason first team All-America by Beyond Sports Network and second team by The Sports Network... a 2014 preseason All-Patriot League selection... a 2013 All-American and 2013 First Team All-Patriot League selection… 2013 Lansing Trophy co-recipient as Fordham’s Lineman of the Year… moved into the starting lineup on the offensive line as a sophomore, starting at left tackle, and continued to start there as a junior… helped the Fordham offense set numerous school records last fall and ranked among the leaders in the Patriot League and the NCAA FCS… did not see varsity action as a freshman… a three-sport athlete in high school.
2013: Appeared in 13 games as a junior, starting 12… named Second Team All-America by The Sports Network… named First Team All-Patriot League… helped the Rams lead the NCAA FCS in pass completion percentage (70.6%), rank third in passing offense (360.9 yards/game) and total first downs (364), and seventh in total offense (515.3 yards/game)… Ram offense finished the season with a 4,000-yard passer, three 1,000-yard receivers and a 1,000-yard rusher, believed to be the first time an NCAA team has accomplished the feat… led 2013 offense to school record-setting success, scoring 50 points or more five times, and accumulating 526 points for the season, breaking the school record of 418 set by the 2003 squad… Rams also set school single season records with 7,214 total yards of offense, shattering the former school mark of 5,377 set by the 2009 team, and 5,052 passing yards, bettering the former record of 3,708 set in 2009.
2012: Appeared in eight games as a sophomore, starting seven at left tackle… helped running back Carlton Koonce set the school single season rushing record with 1,596 yards… also helped the Fordham offense average 435.7 yards/game, second best in the Patriot League and 20th best in the NCAA FCS while the Rams scored 31.2 ppg, second in the league and 31st in the NCAA FCS… Fordham offense also had the second ranked passing offense in the Patriot League in 2012, averaging 279.6 yards/game, 18th best in the NCAA FCS.
2011: Did not see varsity action.
Before Fordham: A graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball… played football for head coach Chuck Kyle… 2009 team was undefeated in Ohio Division 1 in the regular season… graded out at a 90% blocking efficiency… received the Sixth Man award with the basketball program.
Personal: Son of Linda and Greg Halter… has a younger brother, Andrew, and a younger sister, Abigail... majoring in Economics.
