Biography

Moves to linebacker after serving on the offensive side of the ball his first three years… Hopes to be fully recovered after missing the 2012 and 2013 seasons with an injury… got his first collegiate experience in 2011 after sitting out his freshman season in 2010 due to injury… displayed his versatility in 2011 as a runner, receiver and passer... enjoyed a successful 2011 spring, capping it by completing ten of 26 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns, a 55-yarder to Andrew Spanarkel and a 28-yarder to Aaron Mays… an All-State quarterback at St. John’s High School in 2009 where he played with current Fordham teammate Dan Light… named to 2012 and 2013 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

2011: Appeared in six games as a sophomore… rushed 27 times for 79 yards (2.9 yards/carry), caught two passes for 24 yards and completed one of three passes for eight yards… carried six times for eleven yards and caught one ball for 23 yards at Lafayette… gained 36 yards on eight carries against Lehigh… rushed six times for 17 yards in the season opener at Connecticut… completed a pass for eight yards and gained six yards on three carries in the win over Columbia.

2010: Missed entire season due to injury.

Before Fordham: A graduate of St. John’s in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, where he played football for head coach John Andreoli... named All-State in 2009 by both the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald... made the Massachusetts Coaches Association Super 26 team as one of top two quarterbacks in the state.. a 2009 team captain... 2009 Team MVP... led 2009 squad to a Division I-A Super Bowl championship... 2009 & 2008 All-League...set St. John’s Shrewsbury School records for single season by completing 132 of 240 passes for 2,109 yards and 28 touchdowns as a senior... also led team rushing with 696 yards on 92 carries with eight scores... transferred in as a junior from Northwest Catholic in West Hartford, Connecticut, and completed 34 of 62 passes for 532 yards and six touchdowns in just four games... also played with the baseball team at St. John’s High School.

Personal: Son of Gail and David Murphy… grandfather, Edmund, captained the 1942 Holy Cross football team and was inducted into the Crusader Football Legends Ring of Fame in 2010… has an older sister, Jillian, and a younger brother, Dylan… a Business Administration major.
