Tyler Bowen starts his third season on the Fordham football staff, where he will serve as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.
Last fall Bowen guided another prolific offensive season for the Rams as the Fordham offense led the Patriot League and ranked fourth in the NCAA FCS in total offense, averaging 498.2 yards/game, and led the league and ranked 12th in the NCAA FCS in rushing offense, averaging 229.7 yards/game. The Rams also led the Patriot League and were fourth in the nation in scoring, averaging 40.1 points per game.

The 2016 Fordham offense was led by consensus All-American running back Chase Edmonds, who finished fourth in voting for the 2016 Walter Payton Award. Presented to the NCAA FCS offensive player of the year. Edmonds led the NCAA FCS in rushing yards per game (163.5) and was second in total rushing yards as well as ranking second in all-purpose yards per game (194.6) and third in rushing touchdowns. The 1,799 yards was just 39 yards shy of Edmonds’ school single season record set in 2014.
Edmonds was one of ten Rams to earn 2016 All-Patriot League honors, along with offensive linemen Anthony Coyle, who was also a Third Team All-American, and Ben Hartman. Edmonds and Coyle also were named to the ECAC All-Star Team.
In 2015, Bowen guided an offensive line, led by All-American Garrick
Mayweather, Jr., that helped the Fordham offense lead the Patriot League and rank ninth in the NCAA FCS in scoring, averaging 36.8 points per game. The Rams also led the league and were second in the NCAA FCS in passing efficiency (168.30).
?The 2015 Fordham offense ranked second in the league and
20th in the NCAA FCS in passing yards/game (272.3),
21st in the NCAA FCS in first downs and third in the conference and
43rd in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards/game (180.9).

Bowen arrived at Fordham after spending the 2014 season as an offensive graduate assistant coach at Penn State University. He helped the
Nittany Lions to a 7-6 mark in 2014 and a win over Boston College in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.
Prior to Penn State, Bowen served as the tight ends coach at Towson University in 2013. That year, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA FCS championship game, finished ranked number two in the country and set numerous school records, including most wins in a season (13).
A native of Helena, Ga., Bowen played three years of football at the University of Maryland before becoming a student assistant coach for head coach Ralph
Friedgen in 2010 when it was determined that he couldn’t play football anymore due to injuries. In his season as a student assistant, he helped Maryland post a 9-4 record and a win in the Military Bowl.
After he received his degree in 2010, he joined Coach Randy Edsall’s staff as a graduate assistant. During his two seasons as a G.A. at Maryland, he worked with the offensive linemen and the wide receivers. In his final season at Maryland, he coached for Mike
Locksley, the Terps’ Offensive Coordinator.
Bowen was a four-year
letterwinner at
Telfair County High School. He was a first-team Class A all-state selection by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a senior as well as a first team All-Region 2A, Macon Telegraph Georgia Top 50 and All-Middle Georgia first-team choice. Bowen earned the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award for Region 2A from the
Chick-Fil-A Bowl after allowing just three sacks in his junior and senior years.
