Rich Reichert, former assistant coach at American International College, was named an assistant football coach at Fordham University in April of 2023. Reichert will be in charge of the safeties in 2023.

Reichert arrived at Fordham after spending the 2022 season at his alma mater, American International College, as the defensive coordinator/cornerbacks coach. He coached 2022 Don Hansen Football Gazette Honorable Mention All-American defensive lineman Ahmad Rabah along with another First Team All-NE-10 selection for the Yellow Jackets

Prior to his season at AIC, Reichert worked for programs across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. In 2021, he served as the defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach for Long Island University, helping the Sharks earn their first NCAA FCS win and first NCAA FCS road win. He led two players to Phil Steele All-NEC accolades and three to First Team All-NEC honors.

In 2020, Reichert held the defensive coordinator title and coached defensive backs at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, his second stint with the Mariners, while his longest tenure was at Stony Brook University, where he coached a variety of aspects of the defense from 2013-19. He led the safeties and rovers from 2018-2019, the safeties and corner backs from 2016-2017, and the corner backs from 2013-2015. The 2018 Seahawks ranked 18th in the NCAA FCS in total defense and 12th in scoring defense while the 2017 squad was 24th in total defense and the 2016 team ranked fifth. In 2015 the Stony Brook defense led the NCAA FCS in both total defense and passing yards allowed per game.

Reichert also coached at Western Michigan University in 2011 and Rutgers in 2010.

A standout at AIC as both a football and lacrosse player, Reichert led the 2008 team in tackles and earned Second-Team All-NE10 honors as AIC captured the conference title and made its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. During his senior campaign, he served as team captain. He was the recipient of the football team's Leonard J. Bailey Memorial Award, given to the team's defensive MVP, and the Unsung Hero Award from the men's lacrosse program.Â

Reichert received a degree in Criminal Justice from AIC in 2009 and a master’s degree in Coaching Sports Performance from Western Michigan in 2012.
