Patrick Morrissey begins his second season as the Special Teams Quality Control Coach with the Fordham football program in 2017.
Morrissey is responsible for weekly breakdown of the opposing team’s special teams and preparing weekly scouting reports. He prepares weekly game books for the players and assists the Special Teams Coordinator on game planning. Morrissey also assists the offensive staff, working with the quarterbacks during practice.
Morrissey arrived at Fordham with a plethora of high school coaching experience, serving as a varsity and junior varsity coach at Nyack High School under Head Coach John Castellano from 1989-1995. On offense, he coached the offensive line while on the defense Morrissey assisted with the linebackers as well as helping out with special teams. He also handled film breakdown and game planning for upcoming opponents.
Morrissey served as the head coach for the Nyack junior varsity team helping to develop this team for the varsity level. He introduced the Wing-T offense to incoming freshman and new players to the Nyack football program.
Prior to his stay at Nyack High School, Morrissey was a Volunteer Assistant Coach at his alma mater, Iona College. He coached the outside linebackers and was instrumental with film break down. He also implemented game strategies each week and coordinated scout team play.
Morrissey assisted with conditioning of players along with weight lifting during the season and after at Iona and recruited Rockland County.
A 1987 graduate of Iona College with a degree in secondary education, Morrissey was a four year letter winner at quarterback for the Gaels. He was a fist team All-MAAC selection as a junior and senior.
Morrissey and his wife, Dorothy Carlyle, and his stepdaughter Carlyle reside in Valley Cottage, N.Y.
