Martin Castaneda joined the Fordham Football staff in July of 2023 as a volunteer defensive quality control coach.
Castaneda comes to Rose hill after serving for three years as an intern with the University of Houston football squad from 2021-22. He was responsible for importing practice and gameday film, trimming and creating edits of all imported data, and creating cut-ups, headers, and filters for coaches/recruiting. He also assisted with inputting data to create a report for self-scout and opponent breakdown for special team analysts and with creating recruiting reports for prospective recruiting classes.
Castaneda got his coaching career started as an assistant at Summit High School in Fontana, California, where he worked from 2012-2020. He served as defensive run game coordinator/special teams coordinator and Junior Varsity Head Coach. Among the positions he coached were defensive lineman, linebackers, safeties, and offensive line. Castaneda was also responsible for opponent and self-scout breakdown, creating practice plans, and creating opponent play script and pass/run cards.
Castaneda is a 2023 graduate of the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. He also has an associate’s degree from Riverside City College Kinesiology and Exercise Science, earned in 2020.
