Dave Jacobs, former professional kicker and Syracuse University placekicker with more than 50 years of experience teaching the kicking, joined the Fordham football staff in 2026 as a Specialist Coach.
Â
Jacobs arrived at Rose Hill after serving as Specialist Coach at his alma mater in 2025, where he worked with placekickers, punters, and long snappers, emphasizing technique, operation, consistency, and game preparation. Under his guidance, punter Jack Stonehouse earned All-ACC recognition.
Â
The 2025 season was Jacob’s second stint with Syracuse as he served as Specialist Coach/Instructor from the 1980s through 2008. He worked with Syracuse University football specialists during the tenures of head coaches Dick MacPherson, Paul Pasqualoni, and Greg Robinson. Jacobs regularly visited Syracuse on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to work directly with the program’s placekickers, punters, and
long snappers on technique, consistency, operation, and game preparation.
Â
Jacobs got his kicking career started at 16 when he trained one-on-one with Miami Dolphins placekicker Garo Yepremian during the Dolphins' training camp at Biscayne College in Florida. He went on to serve as the placekicker for Syracuse from 1975-78 and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 1979. His professional playing experience involved stints in the NFL, USFL, and AFL.
