Ben Wilkerson

Ben Wilkerson, former assistant football coach at Arkansas Pine Bluff, was named an assistant coach at Fordham University in July 2023. He will be in charge of the Ram running backs for the third straight season in 2025.

Last year, Wilkerson saw senior running back Julius Loughridge record his second straight 1,000-yard season to earn First Team All-Patriot League honors. Loughridge was second in the conference in both rushing yards (1,044) and yards/carry (5.38). Loughridge graduated with 3,130 career rushing yards, fifth on the Fordham career rushing list.

In his first year on Rose Hill Wilkerson helped Loughridge become the eleventh player in school history to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season. Loughridge finished the year with 1,146 rushing yards, placing him fourth in the Patriot League and eleventh in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards/game as the junior earned First Team All-Patriot League honors.
 
A “2022 Footballscoop.com Minority Rising Stars watch list nominee” and a 2023 OurCoachingNetwork.Com 30 Under 30 list nominee, Wilkerson served as the running backs coach/video coordinator at Arkansas Pine Bluff in 2022. The Golden Lions led the Southwestern Athletic Conference in rushing touchdowns in 2022 (16) while Kayvon Britten, a Second Team All-SWAC selection, was second in the conference, gaining 1,095 rushing yards (91.3 yards/game).
 
Prior to serving at Arkansas Pine Bluff, Wilkerson spent two seasons with the University at Buffalo as assistant wide receiver coach in 2021 and running backs quality control coach in 2020.

Wilkerson saw the Bulls clinch the 2020 Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division and the Camellia Bowl Championship during his time in Buffalo. Wilkerson also assisted Jarrett Patterson, who led the nation in rushing in six games with 1,072 yards and 19 touchdowns, named second-team All-American by the Associated Press, MAC Offensive Player of the Year and named All-MAC First Team. Wilkerson running backs finished second in the NCAA in rushing offense (287.4 YPG/ 32 TD's)

Prior to his time at Buffalo, Wilkerson got his start at Buffalo St. as the assistant coach/quarterbacks coach in 2019.

A native of Buffalo, Wilkerson earned his bachelor of business administration from Alfred State, where he also coached the quarterbacks for two seasons. He also served as a youth coach with the WNY QB Academy.

Wilkerson played professionally for three seasons 2016-19, spending two years in Germany with the Franken Knights and the Munich Cowboys, one year in Finland with the Seinajoki Crocodiles, and then in the U.S. in the IFL for the Cedar Rapids River Kings in 2019.
