    Assistant Coach - Defensive Backs
Andrew Chau, who played collegiately for Fordham head coach Tom Masella, is the newest member of the Rams coaching staff in 2011. He will be responsible for assisting with the defensive backs this fall. Chau joins the Fordham staff after six years as an assistant coach at Occidental College in Los Angeles. For the past two years he coached the cornerbacks while in his first four years he guided the outside linebackers. He also served as the Tigers' strength and conditioning coach all six years. Prior to his stay at Occidental, Chau served as an assistant coach at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2004. He was responsible for the outside linebackers while also serving as the head coach of the junior varsity and the assistant strength coach. Chau got his start in coaching on the high school level in San Diego, serving as the defensive backs coach at El Camino High School from 2002-03 and the wide receivers coach at Escondido High School in 2001. A 1989 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., Chau earned a Bachelors of Science. He also received an M.B.A. from the University of Florida in 1993. Originally from Connecticut, Chau played safety at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy where the defensive coordinator was current Fordham head coach Tom Masella. He received the 1988 Defensive Leadership Football Award for Dedication, Enthusiasm, and Teamwork at the school and was named Special Teams Player of the Week in the 1988 and 1985 seasons. Chau owns strength and conditioning certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA, CSCS) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM, HFI).
