Biography

Started first five games of 2009 at left tackle before missing the rest of the year with an injury... looks to pick up where he left off... ... helped the Fordham offense set a school record for total offense in a season last fall while leading the NCAA FCS in total yards per game (488.82)... moved to the offensive side of the ball after playing on the defensive line as a sophomore... made two solo tackles in the 2009 Spring Game... saw action in every game as a sophomore on the defensive line... had a successful 2008 spring season, ending it with two tackles, including one for loss and one sack, in the 2008 Spring Game... did not see varsity action in 2007... named to the Patriot League Honor Roll in 2008.

2009: Started the first five games of the year at left tackle before suffering a season-ending injury... a member of the offensive line that helped the Rams set the school record for total offense in a season, amassing 5,377 yards, eclipsing the former record of 4,995 yards set by the 2002 team... the Rams led the NCAA FCS in total offense (488.82 yards/game) and were second in passing offense (337.09 yards/game) and tied for second in first downs per game (23.64)... also protected quarterback John Skelton, who set single season and career marks for most completions, most passing yards and most passing touchdowns.

2008: Appeared in all eleven games as a sophomore... recorded six total tackles, one solo, including one sack... made three assisted tackles in the win over Marist... finished with two tackles in the season finale at Bucknell.

2007: Did not see varsity action... notched two tackles for loss in a junior varsity game against Globe Institute.

Before Fordham: A graduate of Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn where he played football with Fordham teammates William Quan and Wendell Joly... was also a member of the basketball squad... played in the 2007 Outback Steakhouse Empire Challenge... named to the 2006 All-Borough Team and 2006 Big 44 Team... also named All-City in 2006 and named to the Empire Challenge... helped team to back-to-back City Championships in 2005 and 2006... tied for the team lead in 2006 with ten sacks... made 33 total tackles as a senior... served as a team captain with football as a senior... named to the 2006 All-Academic team.

Personal: Son of Cynthia Mells... has a younger sister (Renee)... a Business Administration major.
