1999: Drafted in the ninth round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Colorado Rockies... 280th player chosen overall... Capped his junior year by being named First Team All-Atlantic 10 as a designated hitter... Led the Rams in hitting with a .374 average along with 17 doubles, six home runs and 35 RBI... Led the team in hits, doubles, home runs, RBI, and slugging percentage (.570)... Ranked ninth in the Atlantic 10 in hitting with his .374 average and is seventh in the A-10 in doubles (0.34/game)... Recorded 15 multiple-hit games and seven multiple-RBI games... Hit safely in 18 of the last 23 games of the season, hitting .437 (38-87) over that time to raise his batting average from .333 to .374... Was also the Rams’ top hurler, notching a 6-4 record with a 3.44 ERA... Struck out a team-high 87 batters in 68 innings... Led Fordham in wins, ERA, complete games (6), and strikeouts... Before Fordham: A graduate of Pentucket Regional High School in West Newbury, MA where he lettered in baseball and football…Named 1994 Massachusetts Division III Player of the Year…Led high school team to State Championships in 1994…Only Massachusetts player to pitch and win four consecutive state tournament games, including the state championship game…Also named AAU All-American in 1994…Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team selection…1994 Team and League Most Valuable Player…Named MVP and Player of the Year of the Cape Ann League…Also named an Eastern Massachusetts All-Star…Attended Milford Academy for one year after graduating from Pentucket Regional.
