Andrew Lang, a former prospect in the New York Mets organization, begins his fourth season with the Rams as a volunteer assistant coach.
In 2007, Lang helped the Rams to the Atlantic 10 Championship game, while three Rams received All-Conference honors. An infielder by trade, Lang has helped coach four All-Atlantic 10 infielders over the past three seasons (Eric Reese and Jordan Lert - 2007; Rich Goulian - 2008; Danny Leach - 2009)
"Andy is a great addition to our program. He will be a tremendous asset for us and we are fortunate to have him. His successes in college and in the minor leagues will help him help our players," said Restaino.
Lang, a 2004 graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a degree in History, was a four-year baseball player and served as team captain in 2003. He also helped Southern Maine to back-to-back appearances at the Division III National Championship in 2000 and 2001.
Following his collegiate career, he started his minor league playing career in July 2003 with the Capitales de Quebec. After a brief stint in Quebec, he moved on to the Kalamazoo Kings, before being brought into the New York Mets organization in March 2005. He later returned to the Kalamazoo Kings in July 2005, eventually helping them win the Frontier League Championship.
In addition to his coaching duties, Lang is currently in his second year attending law school at Fordham University.
