Biography

KownackiVertical2012: Fought through injury to start 51 of 52 games, seeing action at all four infield positions, designated hitter, as well as pitcher... Became the 12th player in Rams' history to reach 200 career hits, finishing with 213, good for 10th all-time... Also finished tied with Danny Leach as the Rams' career games played leader at 211, while being second in career at bats (794) and tied for sixth in career triples (11)... Hit .215 on the season with 21 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, a home run, and 25 RBI... Was 9-for-16 in stolen base attempts... Had eight multi-hit contests and six multi-RBI games... Went 2-for-5 with a double and tied a career-high with three RBI against Western Carolina (2/18)... Was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases at Campbell (2/25)... Collected three hits, two runs scored, and two RBI versus Albany (3/7)... Put together an eight-game hit streak from April 18th - 28th... Ended his career with a 2-for-5 performance at Richmond, posting a double and a run scored (5/19)... Named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2011: One of two Rams to play in all 55 games... Hit a career-high .286 to go with five doubles and 24 RBI... Led the Rams with three triples and a career-high 23 stolen bases in 28 attempts... Totaled 13 multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games... Drove in three runs against Iona (2/26)... Had two hits and two stolen bases in the series finale against Iona (2/27)... Was 3-for-4 with two RBI versus Radford (3/5)... Had two hits and three runs scored versus Towson (3/5)... Registered his second career four-hit game to go with three RBI at Charleston Southern (3/14)... Posted a career-high four stolen bases and a pair of hits versus NJIT (3/20)... Connected for his lone home run of the season at #28 Charlotte (4/23)... Went 3-for-4 at Saint Louis (4/29)... Totaled six hits and four RBI in the Rams' series at Massachusetts, which included a four-hit, two-RBI game in game two (5/14)... Named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

KownackiFlip2010: Started 52 of 53 games as a sophomore... Hit .282 with 32 runs scored, 13 doubles, five triples, two home runs, and 37 RBI... Was also 7-for-7 on stolen base attempts... Posted 13 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games... Had career-long 11-game hit streak (3/27-4/11)... Season was highlighted by him being in Sports Illustrated's Leading Off section, following Fordham's upset win over #11 Miami (Fla.), as well as having one of the unforgettable sports highlights of 2010, the "Fordham Flip", where he capped off the Rams' come-from-behind win against Iona (4/20), by leaping over the Gaels' catcher to score the final run of the game from first base... The highlight gained so much notoriety, that the play was one of four finalists at the 2010 ESPY Awards for the "Best Play of the Year", finishing second in the popular vote... Turned up his play following the Fordham Flip, hitting safely in 18 of 21 games to end the season... Opened the season with a five-game hit streak, which included a two-RBI game against Old Dominion (2/21) and a multi-hit game against Duke (2/26)... Was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI against Fairfield (3/31)... Totaled six hits, four runs scored and two RBI in the Rams' three-game series against Rhode Island (4/1-3)... Collected four this and three RBI in a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure (4/10)... Had six hits, two doubles, and four RBI in the Rams' series against La Salle (4/30-5/2), which included a 3-for-5 performance with three RBI in the series finale... Was 2-for-7 with three RBI in the Rams' extra inning game with Saint Joseph's (5/8)... Was 2-for-5 with a two runs scored and a home run against Duquesne (5/20).

2009: Played 51 games with 47 starts at shortstop in his rookie year...Batted .284 with seven doubles, three home runs, 29 RBI...Ranked fourth on the team in runs scored with 37...Drove in first collegiate run with a 3-for-6, two RBI, two run scored and one double game at Florida Atlantic (2/22)...Slugged in three runs on three hits in the Rams' win at Charlotte (3/20)...Was 3-for-5 with three runs scored, an RBI and a double in game one of a double header at Duquesne while belting his first collegiate home run in game two (4/11)...Belted second home run of the year versus Rutgers (4/14)...Homered in game one of a double-header at Xavier while going 2-for-five with a run scored in game two (4/18)...Had three hits, an RBI and a run scored in a win against Iona (4/21)...Scored a season-high four runs against Dayton (4/26)...Knocked a season-high four hits with a RBI and run scored at Manhattan (4/28)...Had four straight multi-hit games from May 3-10...Knocked in a pair of runs on three hits in the Rams' Atlantic 10 Championship game against Massachusetts.

Before Fordham: Varsity baseball player at Amity Regional High School in Connecticut... Set school single season records for batting average (.500), hits (40), and doubles (12) as a junior... Earned CHSCA All-State honors and was named All-Area and All-State by the New Haven Register... All-Star selection by The Connecticut Post... Helped Amity to two Southern Connecticut Conference Championships and served as team captain... Was also an All-State, All-Area, and All-Star selection for hockey... Earned the Class I and II awards for academics, as well as the Social Studies Achievement Award from Amity.
