Why are there only 5 home games this upcoming season ?

Our football schedule will always have a road game with an FBS opponent, 6 Patriot League games (3 home & 3 Away). That allows us to play 4 additional non league games in a normal year (11 games allowed by NCAA).  We try to schedule those games as 2 home and 2 away.  This year's calendar allows for 12 games total and we decided to play the 12th game as it helps with scheduling a 2 or 4 game series with another school in the future.

We will never play less then 5 home games and, on occasion, will play 6.
See you at Coffey Field this fall.

Beyond a new floor, can Fordham fans expect to see any other changes or new features at Rose Hill Gym next year? Are there any plans to add concessions and bathrooms to improve the spectator experience at Rose Hill Gym? It would seem the building area in front of the gym could be expanded to give the gym a true lobby entrance, bathrooms, concessions and more office space. Has this been considered?

Thank you for your question and interest.  This summer we are replacing the entire floor from outside wall to outside wall. This has been long overdue and given the age of the Rose Hill Gym it is an extensive and expensive project.

Why haven't there been any announcements on the Sports web site about Basketball recruiting results this spring? Also why haven't the basketball coaching changes been addressed?.

We are not permitted to announce additional student-athletes until everything is official. The team and staff roster on the web page will be updated soon.

Dave, I notice that this year's football schedule has homecoming set for November 16. This is an awfully late date for homecoming, and runs the risk of cold weather, which makes partying under tents much less attractive while wearing cold weather clothing. In my opinion, the October 19 game against Lehigh would have been a much better choice, with October being the peak autumn month in the northeast. Our tentative schedules for the next 2 years have homecoming scheduled for early October, which to me makes perfect sense. Can you tell me why the November date was selected this year, instead of October? Thank you.

The way the calendar lined up when we looked at the University's important events and dates it was the only day that worked for all. Hopefully we will have nice weather that day.
Go Rams!

Any chance that beer, particularly Guinness, will be sold at the football games. I love to have Guinness while watching the Rams!

Selling alcohol has not been something the University has considered.  Still hope you come to support the football team.

Dave, can you please clarify a very unclear issue regarding scholarships for men's basketball? What exactly is covered? Is it an open ended free extra tuition and room and board for summer school and grad credits or is it limited to a certain number of credits per year and/or semester? We ask because Fordham keeps getting burned by players graduating early.

A full athletic scholarship for basketball covers tuition, room, board books and coast of attendance.  Summer school for any student-athlete is decided on a case by case basis.

I was wondering if the men's basketball staff has any plans in the near future to offer a summer camp and in particular a prospect camp. I just registered my son for Columbia's prospect camp and was wishing my beloved alma mater offered one. Thanks and have a great summer.

This summer we are installing a new court in the Rose Hill Gym.  I will check on plans for future summers.

Regarding men's basketball, are any members of this year's roster who have eligibility remaining not returning for 2019-2020 ? Thank you.

Nick Honor has decided to transfer to Clemson.

Dave: Five years ago you received a contract extension that expires this year. The school year is ending and there have been no announcements, either way. Will you be returning next year?

I will be returning. Go Rams!

What is being done to improve results in our marquee revenue sport, Men's Basketball? Our track record has improved in many sports but our results in basketball are abysmal at best. Specifically, our best player just decided to transfer (as happens every couple years, it seems) and our coach's record has gotten worse now that he is dealing with his own recruits.

Thank you for your interest in our program. You maybe aware that over 700 D1 basketball student-athletes have transferred in the last two years. That trend continues this year in the both the A-10 and nationally. Unfortunately we are not immune to this trend. We still will be returning the majority of the student-athletes who played this year so we will be more experienced as we look forward to the 2019-2020 season.

What is the timeline for the project to upgrade the court and seating in Rose Hill Gym? It is over 2 1/2 years since this was first announced. Is the court still going to be named for Frank McLaughlin and does the plan still include hospitality suites?

The seats were all installed in the summer of 2018.  The court will be replaced this summer. The suites are on hold as the whole project will cost more then originally expected.  The court will still be named the Frank McLaughlin Family Court once all the funds have all been raised.

There have been an alarming number of season ending injuries in men's basketball over the past 4 years. Does this concern you and do you think that it is related to the scholarship guarantee?

There were fewer season ending injuries this year compared to the past couple of years.  Injuries are going to happen and this year we had what I would consider an average number of injuries for a men's basketball program.

When will the results of the alumni survey regarding Fordham men's basketball be published?

The survey was part of a study done by Collegiate Sports Associates and that report is currently being reviewed.

Thank you. When do you expect the review to be completed?

Not sure when the review of the report will be completed.

What happened to the Liberty Cup? It seemingly vanished from our schedules and Columbia aren't on our list of future out of conference opponents? Why remove a game with great tradition that creates a compelling local rivalry?

Columbia dropped us. They cancelled all games that were on future schedules. We were very disappointed. Hopefully some day they will reconsider.

Some of the best scholastic basketball is played in a ten mile radius of the Rose Hill campus. What is being done to recruit some of these future college stars.

Thank you for your interest in our program. Our coaches are relentless recruiters both locally and nationally. To help us attract local talent we host many high school championships in the Rose Hill Gym.

Why is there so much emphasis on the men's program on the main page side bar? There are constant post game interviews with Jeff N whose team is not preforming well at all. Where is the respect and promotion for the women's basketball program and acknowledgement of Coach Gaitley and the teams success?

Coach Gaitley has tuned the women's program around and has brought Fordham continuous success and respect within the Atlantic 10 conference.

What are you going to do to celebrate and acknowledge the first ever Atlantic 10 regular season champions for the program?

What are you and your team planning to get the students and other Fordham fans to Pittsburgh to support and cheer the team on?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Go Rams!!!

Thank you for your questions.  We are very proud of our women’s basketball program and the many accomplishments over the last 8 years under Coach Gaitley’s leadership.  They are a pleasure to watch. Today we clinched a share of the A10 regular season title and the team will be honored at the appropriate time.  The team will travel on Wednesday to the A10 tournament.
We have  featured WBB extensively on our web site both in articles and video content.  In addition there has been coverage both on  TV and radio.
We are looking forward to the A10 tournament beginning on Friday. We will certainly provide free tickets to any student who would like to attend. Hope to see you there.
Go Rams!

I am a 62 year old grad, Class of 1978. Am I going to live long enough to ever see the men's basketball team win an NCAA Tournament game? I was an 8th grader on Staten Island the last time they won a game in the Tournament.

I hope you are healthy and live for a long time and we get to sit together and watch Fordham win a tournament game.  Thank you for your support!  Go Rams.

David Pekarek a captain on the men's basketball team recently announced that he has left the team. What is the reason for his departure?

David decided to go home to tryout for professional basketball in his country.  He has more then enough credits to receive his degree.

Hi AD Dave Roach - Is there a single person in charge of basketball game day operations? Are you aware that on the recent men's basketball Alumni Day vs. St Bonaventure that the bookstore was closed, and Dagger John's has had cable tv issues as well as supply issues and staffing issues, perplexing since a sellout was announced earlier in the week? What is the plan to address/coordinate for the future? Thank you.

Thank you for sharing the issues that you experienced on Saturday.  Those issues should not have happened.  I was informed today that the Bookstore was closed for inventory.  In regards to Dagger Johns the TV's have been down and there was supposed to be an alternative way to watch TV.  I have also alerted Aramark to the supply and staffing issues that occurred on Saturday.  We will continue to meet with both the Bookstore and Aramark to better serve all who attend our games.  If you would like to attend another game as my guest please let me know.
Go Rams!

Why does the University continue to remain in the A-10 Conference? I'm a Golden Ram from the class of '67, and it is PAINFULLY OBVIOUS every year that we are outclassed and hopelessly unable to compete in that talent pool. For God's sake, drop out and rejoin the Patriot League. I'm amazed the students are willing to attend games and root for a team that is constantly outclassed and embarrassed. An 18 point loss to the 2nd worst team in the conference?? Sobering

Thank you for your question.  While this season has so far has not turned out the way we hoped we are a work in progress with 10 newcomers and have struggled with consistency.  Our student-athletes and coaches still are upbeat and working very hard to achieve success.
Thank you for your interest and support.  Go Rams.

Dave - thanks for replying,....but this has not been a one season disappointment.
The Rams have not been even competitive in this league since we joined it. Yes the A10 has a "home team" in NYC that maybe gets them a keg up on playing some of its games in MSG or similar Big Apple venues.
But what The Rams get (other than the constant reality of being the league doormat) has never been apparent to me. It's amazing you can recruit any HS kid with basketball talent at all.
Just from one VERY seasoned alum, who is always depressed at looking at scores. You don't need to get an invite to the Big Dance. Just be competitive. A series of coaches has not been able to produce a winning record. There is a problem that's not being dealt with.
We're in the wrong league.

I guess we can agree to disagree.  I feel that the A10 is a good fit for our Athletic Department.

Dave have you considered and pursued entry into the Big East conference? This seems more natural for Fordham and could enhance regional recruiting.

Thank you for your question.  We have not considered or pursued entry into the Big East.  Go Rams!

I run an after-school mentoring program for middle school boys, and I was wondering if your program offers any tours or any Q&A sessions with any coaches/athletes?
Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you for reaching out. We would be pleased to be a part of your program.  We will reach out to set something up. Go Rams!

My family and I are attending Family weekend and game against Lafayette. We are planning to tailgate however Saturday’s weather will be stormy. Is the any changes to the game’s schedule and restrictions with regards to tailgating due to weather? I know tents may be a challenge if there are 40 mph wind gusts.
Thanks.
Go Rams!

There are no changes to the game schedule for Saturday's Family weekend game with Lafayette.  If the weather forecast holds as currently predicted tailgating will certainly be a challenge. Please keep in mind Fordham does not permit tailgating in the parking garage.  Hope to see you Saturday!
Go Rams!

I watch the Fordham soccer matches on ESPN+, and I notice a glare on the surface of the playing field for night matches under the lights - it has to do with the camera placement and angle coupled with the lights. When the camera briefly uses other angles/shots which face the bleachers, the vision is crystal clear with no glare; any way to encourage/allow the main camera shot to face the grandstand as the primary vantage point (or at least create a new camera placement?) Thanks.

Thank you for your question. The current camera angles are determined by the press box being on the same side of the field as the grandstand which dictates where we can set up the main camera due to the length of cable we need to run. We have one wireless camera which we place on the opposite side of the field but since that camera is ground level we cannot use it as the primary camera.

There seems to be some concern regarding men's basketball tickets not being mailed out to season ticket holders. This was always done in the past. Is there a reason for this not being done this year? It is an inconvenience to several people who do not live close to Rose Hill and can not attend all games but still buy season tickets. Thank you.

Thank you for your email. After a thorough review of our ticket office procedures and an attempt to enhance our personal relationships with Fordham's loyal season ticket holders, we have implemented a more personal delivery process for these season tickets. We look forward to meeting in person our season ticket holders when they pick up their packages. We are happy to still mail out any season ticket packages to those who prefer this method.  Thank you!

Why no analysis of the TWO MAJOR losses in Football? It is clear that Joe Colin inherited a lacking team, but we got an indepth evaluation of the practices, but NO comments about why we have lost. It appears we are back to the traditional mediocre Fordham football.

Thank you for your email and interest in our football program.  After every game there is a story/recap of the game along with video footage of the game.  Both of these can be found on our web page, Twitter and Facebook.

What is the non-conference basketball schedule?

We are finalizing one game of the non-conference schedule and then the schedule will be released.  Go Rams!

Why didn't you and the coaching staff refuse to play after several "lighting" interruptions??? You put the team in danger of being hurt, especially since the team was TIRED from the trip and there were only 50 people watching the game. We have a loss and it could have been worse...the game lasted over 6 hours

Thank you for your email.  We were monitoring the weather all night and felt that we could get a full game after the delay which moved the kickoff to approximately 7:30 p.m. We did have another weather delay prior to the start of the 2nd half.
Our student-athletes were prepared, fit and ready. The game ended four hours after the first half kickoff.
