Baseball Edged by New Mexico, 10-9

Dean, McAndrews, Ocko, & Donnelly All Hit Home Run for the Rams

Albuquerque, N.M. – (February 13, 2026) – The 166th season of Fordham baseball kicked off with a bang on Friday with four home runs by the Fordham offense, but it wasn't enough, as the Rams were edged by the New Mexico Lobos, 10-9, at Lobo Baseball Field.
 
THE GAME
  • The Rams were trailing 1-0 in the third inning, when the Rams scored five times for a 5-1 lead
  • Fordham's Mason Dean cracked a solo home run in his first career at bat to start the third inning rally, while Tommy McAndrews later hit a three-run home run.
  • Madden Ocko added a solo home run in the fourth inning to increase the Rams' lead to 6-1.
  • New Mexico then answered with a four-run sixth inning and a three-run seventh inning to take an 8-6 lead.
  • Fordham cut the deficit advantage, when the Rams cut that deficit to 8-7 in the eighth after back-to-back doubles by Ocko and Tommy Markey plated a run.
  • The Rams then regained the lead in the ninth at 9-8 on a two-run home run by Joey Donnelly.
  • New Mexico came back with two runs in the bottom of the ninth to take the 10-9 win.
 
GAME NOTES
  • In the batter's box, the Rams were paced by McAndrews, who went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI.
  • Anthony Grabau finished 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, and a stolen base, while Ocko went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, and two runs scored.
  • Dean was 2-for-4 with a home run with Donnelly going 1-for-4 with a home run in their Ram debuts.
  • Beau Elson had a strong outing as the opening day starter, allowing four earned runs over 5.2 innings of work with five strikeouts.

  • The same two teams will face off in a doubleheader on Saturday, February 14th, beginning at 2:00 PM.
