Princeton, N.J. – (September 6, 2025) – In one of the more anticipated early season match-ups, the fourth-ranked Fordham water polo team took on the #1 ranked UCLA Bruins on Saturday morning at the Princeton Invitational.  The Bruins took advantage of multiple man-up advantages throughout the game, taking down the Rams by a score of 16-9.
 
THE GAME

• UCLA lead 4-1 after the first quarter, converting on three man-up advantages in the quarter.
• The Bruins extended their lead to 8-3 at halftime with Peter Castillo as the lone multi-goal scorer.
• Fordham played even in the third quarter, as Luca Silvestri netted two goals with Andras Toth also scoring.
• Both Silvestri and Toth completed hat tricks in the fourth quarter for the Rams, but was not enough against the Bruins.

 
GAME NOTES

• The loss snapped Fordham's 38-game regular season win streak, dating back to 2023.
• Luca Silvestri scored a game-high four goals, while Andras Toth also had a hat trick.
• Balazs Berenyi and Barnabas Eppel had the remaining goals for Fordham.
• Marco Napolitano dished out three assists with Luca Provenziani having two assists and three steals.
• Matthew Bonello DuPuis registered five saves in goal.
