#4 Water Polo Heads to Princeton Invitational This Weekend

Rams’ Road Trip Highlighted by Saturday Showdown with #1 UCLA

Bronx, N.Y. – (September 5, 2025) – After a successful 4-0 start to the season at the Bruno Classic, the #4 Fordham water polo team will have a challenging second weekend as the Rams head to the Princeton Invitational.
 
Highlighting the weekend will be a top five national match-up between #4 Fordham and defending national champion and #1 ranked UCLA on Saturday morning. The Rams will also have an exhibition contest against FTC (Ferencvaros), a Hungarian-based club team that recently won the Champions League, on Saturday, while taking on RV Santa Clara on Sunday.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Rams posted a 4-0 record at the Bruno Classic, recording wins over MIT, #18 Harvard, #9 Pacific, and LIU.
  • Fordham was led by Andras Toth, who totaled 16 goals, three assists, and five steals for the Rams in week one, while Luca Provenziani had 13 goals, eight assists, and six steals.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Fordham & UCLA have met twice previously in 2012 and 2019 with the Bruins taking both contests.UCLA was #2 in the country on both occasions.
  • Fordham & Santa Clara have met 11 times since 2007 with the Broncos holding a 9-2 series lead.  The last meeting came in 2023 with then-#16 Fordham taking a 12-10 win over then-#17 Santa Clara.
 
NEWS & NOTES
  • Barnabas Eppel and Diego Tresa earned MAWPC weekly awards for their week one performances.  Eppel was named Player of the Week (8 goals, 3 assists, 4 steals, 6 exclusions drawn), while Tresa was the Rookie of the Week (7 goals, 3 assists, 6 steals, 6 exclusions drawn).
  • Fordham converted on 64% of their man-up opportunities at the Bruno Classic (18-for-28)
  • The match against #1 UCLA on Saturday will be the second time that Fordham has faced the top ranked team in the country (9/13/1986 - #1 Stanford - L, 18-3)
  • Fordham continues to be the melting pot of collegiate water polo, featuring players from eight countries including the United States, Canada, Italy, Hungary, Malta, Germany, Greece, and South Africa.
 
WHO'S NEXT
  • Following this weekend, the Rams begin MAWPC action with a road match at Mercyhurst on September 20th and then games against Bucknell and Mt. St. Mary's on September 21st as a part of the Bucknell Invitational.
