BRONX, N.Y. – Falling behind 3-0 early in the second half, the Fordham men's soccer team attempted a furious comeback, scoring twice to narrow the deficit to one before eventually falling to the Marist University Red Foxes, 4-2, at Moglia Stadium at Jack Coffey Field.
Fordham falls to 2-2-1 overall after the loss while Marist improves to 2-0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Marist scored early, taking a 1-0 lead just over five minutes into the game and then made it a 2-0 contest on another goal in the 33rd minute, assisted by Kyle Evans.
• The Red Foxes made it 3-0 in the 60th minute before the Rams attempted the comeback.
• Nicholas Di Sessa put Fordham on the board taking a pass from Jack Sias and blasting it by Marist keeper Jamie Lowell in the 66th-minute.
• Just over a minute later, Andre Insalaco made it a 3-2 game as he collected a rebound of his own shot and beat Lowell with a shot that went just under the cross bar.
• But the Red Foxes iced the game with their fourth tally with four minutes remaining.
GAME NOTES
• The goal was Di Sessa's first collegiate score.
• Insalaco's tally was his first of the year and the fifth of his collegiate career.
• Leo Perelman made his first start of the season in net for the Rams, his third overall.
• Perelman recorded four saves.
