Erie, Pa. – (September 20, 2025) – The fifth-ranked Fordham water polo team opened MAWPC action on Saturday afternoon, posting a 31-7 win at Mercyhurst, setting a school record for goals scored in a match.
The Rams are now 6-1 on the season, 1-0 in the MAWPC.
THE GAME
- Fordham scored the first seven goals of the game in just three minutes of action.
- After Mercyhurst got on the board to make it, 7-1, the Rams reeled off 19 consecutive goals to go up, 26-1, with 1:50 left in the third quarter.
- The Rams ended up with a 31-goal effort, setting a new school record for team goals in a game.
GAME NOTES
- Andras Toth scored a game-high six goals to go with three assists, five steals, and two blocks, while Diego Tresa netted five goals.
- Christopher Gray added a hat trick with two assists and four steals with Luca Provenziani having three goals and six assists.
- Tyler Fahey, Luca Silvestri, and Balazs Berenyi also had two goals each in the win for the Rams.
- The 31 goals by the Rams, surpassed the previous mark of 30, which happened twice in 1971 (vs. Penn State) and 2024 (vs. Mercyhurst – MAWPC Championship quarterfinal).
- Fordham extended its regular season win streak against MAWPC opponents to 45 games.
