Cambridge, Mass. – (August 30, 2025) – A new season for the third-ranked Fordham water polo team began on Saturday at the Bruno Classic, hosted at Harvard University. The Rams posted a pair of wins on day one, defeating MIT, 20-8, and #18 Harvard, 15-11.
GAME 1 vs. MIT
- After a low scoring first quarter with Fordham leading 2-1, the Rams exploded in the second quarter, scoring eight times to build a 10-4 halftime lead with both Luca Provenziani and Andras Toth netting first half hat tricks.
- The Rams then scored five times in both the third and fourth quarter to cap a 20-8 victory.
- Provenziani finished with four goals, three assists, and three steals to lead the Rams' offense, while Toth also had four goals.
- Barnabas Eppel, Marco Napolitano, West Gartland, and Diego Tresa also had two goals apiece in the match.
- Matthew Bonello DuPuis played the first half in goal, making three saves, while Kristof Magony played the majority of the second half posting one save.
GAME 2 vs. #18 Harvard
- Fordham boasted a 5-2 lead after the first quarter behind a pair of goals by Balazs Berenyi.
- Matthew Bonello DuPuis starred in the second quarter, making three saves to keep the Crimson in check.
- Leading by three, 11-8, Fordham scored three of the first four goals to open the final frame, building up a 14-9 lead, eventually winning by a 15-11 score.
- Luca Provenziani scored a game-high four times, while Andras Toth added three markers.
- Berenyi and Barnabas Eppel also had two goals each.
