Bronx, N.Y. – (May 3, 2025) – Rhode Island's Jack Hopko and Nicholas Toro combined for two home runs and seven RBI, as the URI Rams topped the Fordham Rams, 15-4, at Houlihan Park on Saturday.
URI jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on a three-run home run by Jack Hopko, his 14
th of the season. Fordham answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to make it, 3-1.
Daniel Bucciero doubled with two outs and scored on a single to right by
Anthony Grabau.
Fordham made it 3-2 in the fourth, when
Cian Sahler doubled home
Matt Dieguez, who also reached on a double.
URI then scored 12 straight runs form the fifth through ninth innings, building up a 15-2 lead. Anthony DePino had a solo home run in fourth, while Nicholas Toto had a two-run single in the sixth and a solo home run in the ninth to highlight the scoring.
Fordham scratched two runs across in the ninth for the 15-4 final.
Tommy Markey had an RBI-double to score
Ryan Meyer, while
Tommy McAndrews forced in a run with a bases loaded walk.
Mike Rabayda (2-5) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on seven hits over five innings. At the plate, Bucciero was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and a stolen base, while Dieguez was 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
The series is slated to wrap up on Sunday, May 4
