Baseball Shut Out by VCU

Fordham Back in Action on Tuesday at Sacred Heart

Richmond, Va. – (April 27, 2025) – Three VCU pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout on Sunday, defeating the Fordham Rams, 9-0, at The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia.

For the third straight game, VCU got on the board first with three runs in the third inning, when Jacob Lee hit a three-run home run to left, his 12th of the season and third of the weekend.

They doubled their lead in the fourth to go up by a 6-0 score.  With two outs and one on, Spencer Sullivan hit a ball to short left field that Daniel Bucciero attempted an over-the-shoulder catch, but couldn't hang on, plating the runner.  Casey Kleinman and Lee followed with RBI-singles to left.

VCU made it 8-0 in the fifth, getting a sacrifice fly and an RBI-groundout, while adding a run in the eighth on a first and third steal for a 9-0 final score.

It was a rough day for the Fordham offense, managing just three hits in the game.  Taylor Kirk finished 2-for-4 with a double, while Reid Lapekas had the other hit.  Chase Hanawalt (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits over 3.2 innings of work.

Fordham will next be in action on Tuesday, April 29th for a road game at Sacred Heart.
