Richmond, Va. – (April 27, 2025) – Three VCU pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout on Sunday, defeating the Fordham Rams, 9-0, at The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia.
For the third straight game, VCU got on the board first with three runs in the third inning, when Jacob Lee hit a three-run home run to left, his 12
th of the season and third of the weekend.
They doubled their lead in the fourth to go up by a 6-0 score. With two outs and one on, Spencer Sullivan hit a ball to short left field that
Daniel Bucciero attempted an over-the-shoulder catch, but couldn't hang on, plating the runner. Casey Kleinman and Lee followed with RBI-singles to left.
VCU made it 8-0 in the fifth, getting a sacrifice fly and an RBI-groundout, while adding a run in the eighth on a first and third steal for a 9-0 final score.
It was a rough day for the Fordham offense, managing just three hits in the game.
Taylor Kirk finished 2-for-4 with a double, while
Reid Lapekas had the other hit.
Chase Hanawalt (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits over 3.2 innings of work.
Fordham will next be in action on Tuesday, April 29
th for a road game at Sacred Heart.
